The session will cover the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), offering insights on floodplain management and enforcement of related regulations for your community, leading to an overview of the FEMA audit process so that your municipality can be prepared for the audits.
Key topics include:
- NFIP minimum floodplain management regulations
- Flood hazard mapping, flood insurance, and local permitting processes
- Understanding Substantial Improvement (SI) and Substantial Damage (SD)
- Effective communication techniques to explain the impact of floodplain management decisions on insurance, public safety, and health
- An overview of the FEMA audit process and its implications for communities
